What is Next for the Animal Crossing Franchise?

Hey everyone! It's your lad, Galaxy Gaymer!

Animal Crossing New Horizons has been around for almost two and a half years now, and has gone through many different stages. Between the base game, the collabs, the new events and items, and all the content brought to us through the DLC, there has been a pretty huge amount of content for the game. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end eventually, and the game's player base is slowly calming down, which has me wondering, what could be next for Animal Crossing? Well, there's really not definitive answer to that question at the moment, but today I'm going to tell what you I think, and kind of where I want the franchise to go.

One of the amazing things about Animal Crossing is that it is not technically a dead franchise with no updates in any game at all. In fact, for those who want a free Animal Crossing experience, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is constantly being updated with new items and features constantly. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons there were not many benefits if you played Pocket Camp, but there were just a couple of  items they would give you for free. What I would love to see in a future main series Animal Crossing is Pocket Camp features implemented into the game. Whether it's some of the amazing exclusive furniture, or even the stunning fortune cookie collections, I feel like it would give us so many options for our world's.

Before you click off of this article, hear me out. Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival may not have been everyone's favourite game, but the concept itself had a lot of potential. Party games, especially if they're a couch co-op, can be a lot of fun, and even though I did enjoy this game originally, it still didn't quite meet up to anybody's expectations. If Nintendo was to make an Amiibo Festival that was closer to the concept of the Mario Party games, but a lot cuter, it would be a thing of beauty. It would not only be mega iconic, but it would also fill in the wait between main series titles.

Anybody that has played New Leaf AND New Horizons will probably tell you how much they prefer New Leaf. The variety of everything in New Leaf was just so much more diverse. Items, different things that you can dig up and villager personalities are just some of the things sometimes lacking in New Horizons. In the next main series game, no matter when it is, I am hoping there is more depth in everything, just so the gameplay can be broadened more. I also highly recommend you play New Leaf somehow, it's amazing.

One more thing I would love to see in future games is non Animal Crossing Amiibos being implemented into the game. I'm not even saying Amiibos being an item in game, but somehow making every Amiibo give you some items in game. This could broaden the game so much, even if it's just an exclusive outfit to Amiibos. Although inviting villagers to your game with Amiibo cards is fantastic, I just feel like there's so many more amazing possibilities that could turn a great game into an amazing game.

What do you think we will see in the future of the Animal Crossing franchise? Comment down below. Part of me is hoping we get some kind of news by the end of 2022 or at least at E3 2023. But for now it's just the waiting game.

Have a nice day!

Love, Galaxy Gaymer x
