Welcome Home Banjo & Kazooie

Hey everyone! It's your lad, Galaxy Gaymer!

So, if you are familiar with me in real life or even online, you will more than likely be aware of one of my first gaming loves, Banjo Kazooie. It's the bear and bird duo that I adore with all my heart whose game took me 15 years to complete just a single time, but this game is one of my fondest childhood, and now adulthood memories alongside Pokemon. It just brings me so much happiness when even thinking about an aspect of the franchise.

E3 this year was one of the happiest possible days for any fans of the franchise. It was announced that our duo was coming home to Nintendo, and becoming the 3rd slot in the DLC slot for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I literally cried at the early hour of the morning I was awake to watch the Super early Nintendo portion of E3. Then, yesterday it happened. Without warning, during the Nintendo Direct, Banjo was announced to be dropping into Smash THAT DAY. Again being the cause of me tearing up!

After hours of Nintendo not letting my download the Smash update, my internet not cooperating, and me stressing, alas, Banjo appears on my screen! Not only is this the best moment in Smash history for me, but it also had to be the best gaming moment in a long time!

Banjo and Kazooie's presence in Smash felt as if it was supposed to be there. Their move set is so beautiful and so flowy and I think they'd be a great main character to use for beginners and veterans alike, and just the sheer fact that we got both a Jinjonator Final Smash AND we got amazing remixes of already amazing songs from the original Banjo soundtrack, it is like a literal dream for fans like myself. And what is next for the duo? We will see.

Who are some of your dream characters to be Smash DLC? Comment below! Also, I have many more posts about Banjo and other Nintendo titles coming soon, so stay tuned!

Have a nice day!

'Gun Gun Pixies' is Perfect For Switch

Hey everyone! It's your lad, Galaxy Gaymer!

A number of months ago, I wrote about an incredible Vita game that I borrowed from a friend. This game takes everything amazing about shooters and adds just that little bit of fan service. This game being the amazing third person shooter, Gun Gun Pixies.

Ever since I played Gun Gun Pixies on Vita, I wanted more. I wanted to own it for myself on one of the consoles I have. Although today may have been the day that the game was officially released on Switch, luck was on my side yesterday, and I was able to play my copy a day early, and you know what? Gun Gun Pixies is truly made for the Nintendo Switch!

With more crisp and fluid controls, Gun Gun Pixies on Switch is like a whole new experience in some ways. It has all the charm that the Vita version had, but with controllers like a Switch Pro Controller, it truly adds to the experience, especially if it is played on the docked mode. The Day One Edition had a beautiful art book with adorable box art and I have already put it on display in my home.

Overall, if you want to play Gun Gun Pixies, but you don't know which version you need, I'd say both if you can, but if you really have to pick, go with Switch. The versatility of being able to play it on-the-go, or on your tv in the comfort of your home really adds to the experience! I truly think this game is a hidden gem that I'm surprised wasn't even originally bigger, but I also believe it deserves a sequel of some kind someday.

'Splatoon 2' Has Me Confused

Hey everyone! It's your lad, Galaxy Gaymer.

So, I seem to find myself constantly trying many games just because of large amounts of hype, and other times just because it looks pretty or impressive, heck, sometimes even both. One of the more recent games that was a healthy combination of both of these things, and that game is none other than Splatoon 2.

Upon getting Splatoon 2 and experiencing the series in general for the first time, one thing put me off a little bit. The fact that this game is next to unplayable without online is pretty off-putting, and I'm really hoping for future sequels we will see offline modes or even just free online play. Online play aside, the game is really fun to play! The graphics are really stunning and the gameplay itself is very quickly addictive.

The soundtrack is also a huge highlight of Splatoon 2. It is the perfect combination of funky and fun and I honestly went and found a physical copy immediately! The concept itself is also so unique. The objective of the main mode I played was to cover as much of the map as possible with your team's ink colour! It is a time race, and you can also kill each other and make people respawn back at the start. The difficulty is really high at first, but eventually you will become a pro!

'The Adventures of Elena Temple': Hard To Put Down

Hey guys! It's your lad here, Galaxy Gaymer!

So, I am lucky enough to be given the game that is today's topic, but that does not mean my review will be any less than 100% truthful! This game is puzzle platformer by the name of The Adventures of Elena Temple.

At first glance, this game has a nostalgic feeling to it. Imagine the days of 2d platformers being at the peak of their popularity, and how even the most basic of games can draw you and and have you almost immediately addicted until the early hours of the morning. The Adventures of Elena Temple is a throwback to that feeling

With its simplistic monochrome style, and various borders for different levels of the game, it really showcases all the best parts of the era of 2d platformers. This game is not only very smooth with controls, but it is difficult enough, but not frustratingly so, that even the most skilled of players will want to continue playing until they can finish just one more level. All in all, I found a lot of enjoyment in this game, and also played for two hours without even realising which does not happen often.

I recommend this game for either new gamers who want something that they may not have yet experienced, or even older players looking for that little bit of nostalgia, but in a new way. I recommend The Adventures of Elena Temple for almost everyone and anyone looking for a fresh new feeling to puzzle platformers!

'NekoPara': Story Heavy Hidden Gem

Hey everyone! Your lad Galaxy Gaymer here!

So, as some odd you may have noticed, visual novels have been my go-to genre on the Switch. I am constantly finding so many great visual novels, but none have made me smile and feel as emotionally invested as the censored version of NekoPara volume 1 and 2 on Nintendo Switch!

Basically, NekoPara is all from the point of view of a bakery owner, Kashou, who is the master to two half cat/ half female human characters known as "cat girls", named Chocola and Vanilla. Throughout the episodes the relationships between Chocola and Vanilla and Kashou grow and they all adapt to living in an apartment together, working together at the bakery and discovering new aspects of each other's personalities. The volumes also involve Kashou's sister, Shigure, who is a VERY affectionate little sister, maybe a little too affectionate, and their family's cat girls, Cinnamon, Maple, Azuki and Coconut (my personal favourite).

This visual novel has such a unique aspect and is surprisingly story-heavy. I found myself feeling very emotional in both of the available volumes and found myself get more and more invested. The art style is very nice and I would definitely love to eventually watch the OVA. If the two volumes aren't enough, then you can definitely enjoy a smaller sub-volume on each of the volumes upon finishing them. These volumes tend to be a bit deeper and display a lot of the backstory on how the characters came to be how they are.

All in all, I highly recommend the Switch version of NekoPara for the people who love visual novels, but don't necessarily want some of the more risque aspects of the version you can get on Steam. For less than $20 per volume, and with the 3rd and final volume right around the corner, I think it is such a steal and there's every chance you will enjoy the experience of this visual novel too!

What is a game that had you emotionally invested and wanted to really explore some more story-heavy games? Comment below and it may be my next review here!

Seran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash is Underrated

Hey everybody! It's your lad here, Galaxy Gaymer!

Do you remember when you were a kid and in Summer you used to stay cool by having water fights with your friends? Well, the concept of Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash (PBS for short), is the same as that, but the game itself is nothing like that.

PBS is about the different girls from past Senran Kagura games, but with a twist. Every single mode in the game uses various water guns and all you have to do is complete various goals, such as putting out fires. There is only modes in this game such as online multiplayer which has games such as capture the bra.

At first glance, I thought this game was pretty much just fan service garbage, but only because of how people actually explained the game to me. Fast forward to a year or so later, I actually finally checked out a few videos about it. I suddenly knew I had to play this game for myself. Upon playing this game for way too many hours, I have decided this game is honestly some of the most fun I have had in a long time and I think the people who think it is simply fan service should just try it for themselves.

Although I did not enjoy some of the story-type modes, the online multi player was really fantastic. The graphics in this game are really impressive, especially for my first Senran Kagura game, and I really admire the work put into this game by the makers and I truly am excited to be able to play it on Switch later this year.

Yoshi's Crafted World is the Game I Didn't Know I Needed

Hey everyone! It's your lad here, Galaxy Gaymer.

So, I don't usually play a lot of the main titles by Nintendo unless they are Smash, Pokemon or Zelda, but I recently played Yoshi's Crafted World, and I was pleasantly surprised! This game is quite similar to Wooly World, but honestly is a lot more impressive. The story is all about all the different Yoshis trying to retrieve gems that have been taken by Bowser Jnr and another bad guy. To retrieve all the gems, you need to overcome many obstacles in different levels. Each section of levels in the game hub are a different theme, such as ocean or origami.

At first glance, I truly thought this game was,  for the most part, for children. I was very wrong with my first assumption. This game not only have beautiful graphics, but I quickly grew to enjoy the surprising level of difficulty that comes the further you progress with the game. In one sitting I even manged to complete half of the levels, which was totally fun! I also really like collecting all the different outfits and stuff from the machines in each section of the game!

All in all, I really think almost anyone can find enjoyment in this game. Not only would be it great for beginner gamers, but I think older gamers would be able to appreciate the artistic styling and the difficulty of this game. I also think it is a huge plus that you can pick Yoshi's colour, which could entice a lot of people.

What are some games you have been pleasantly surprised by? Comment down below and maybe I'll play that game next!

Have a nice day everybody!
